Got a task you do every Monday, or a reminder you keep forgetting? Grok Bot calls repeat work like that a routine. Here's what xAI's changelog says about routines, checked on Oct 28, 2026.
How a routine can start
- On a schedule: the changelog says hourly, interval, and daily routines run on a schedule counted from when you create them, and one-time reminder routines show Once with their date and time.
- From a webhook: routines can start from a webhook, with their own Webhook URL and key, and they receive the request body so your Bot can act on what was sent.
- From other apps: your Bot can create routines that start from a Microsoft Teams message, a Linear issue, a Sentry alert, or a PagerDuty incident. Slack routines that listen for messages can see images on the message that started them.
- From email: routines can read the Bot's inboxes, and a routine on a tagged address, like name+shop@, runs only for that address's mail.
Managing your routines
Per the changelog, after you save a routine the Bot sums up what it does and who receives the result, and each run delivers there. You can right-click a routine in the details pane to Pause, Resume, Test, Edit, or Delete it. Deleting a routine also stops its future runs.
Limits and safety
- Run limits: your routines can run up to 300 times an hour in total, and each routine up to 200 times.
- Drafts: emails and Slack messages from routine turns still wait as drafts for you, while sends you ask for in your own words go out once Auto-review allows them.
- Sign-ins: when a routine needs to sign in to a site, it asks you in chat at that step, and a signed-out connector shows a Reconnect card at most once a day.
- Plans: when your plan doesn't include routines, the Bot names the plan that does. See our pricing guide.
