Yelp Receptionist is an AI answering service for local businesses, and Yelp Host is the restaurant version. Yelp says both are pre-trained on your Yelp Page, answer calls 24/7, filter spam, and send you recordings and summaries.
Pricing
Subscription: From Yelp's product pages (Oct 28, 2026): Yelp Receptionist is $0 for the first 30 days, then $99 a month for up to 500 calls. Yelp Host is free for up to 30 days, then pricing starts at $249 a month, with bundled pricing when paired with Yelp Guest Manager. Yelp Receptionist is available to select business categories; log in to Yelp for Business and look for the Yelp Receptionist tab.
Getting set up
According to Yelp: log in to your Yelp for Business account and open the Yelp Receptionist or Yelp Host tab. Yelp Host is for restaurants with a claimed Yelp listing.
The plain-English overview
Phone ringing while you're with a customer, on a ladder, or slammed at dinner rush? Yelp built two AI phone helpers for exactly that. Yelp's product pages and launch post describe them like this, as of Oct 28, 2026.
What Yelp lists for Yelp Receptionist (local businesses):
- Ready from the start: Yelp says it pulls your hours, services, and location from your Yelp Page.
- Handles calls: it answers questions, screens out spam, and lets customers schedule with you in real time.
- Captures leads: Yelp says it asks follow-up questions to capture project details, so you have what you need for a quote or appointment.
- Keeps you posted: each call is recorded, transcribed, and summarized, then sent to your Yelp for Business inbox.
- Your settings: pick a voice, choose the questions it asks, and decide how it hands off calls.
What Yelp lists for Yelp Host (restaurants):
- Reservations and waitlists: Yelp says it handles reservations, and waitlisting works with Yelp Guest Manager.
- Transfers: if it can't answer, or a guest asks, it transfers the call to a number you choose.
- Any caller: Yelp says it answers any call to your dedicated Yelp Host number, not only calls from Yelp.
- Languages: Yelp's table says it supports nearly any language.
Who it's for: local service businesses like movers, contractors, and salons (Receptionist), and table-service restaurants with a claimed Yelp listing (Host).
Picture this: you run a two-person moving company. A caller asks about a two-bedroom move on the 15th while you're carrying a couch. Yelp Receptionist asks for the addresses, the date, and any big items, then you get a summary in your inbox and call back with a quote that evening. (Our illustration of what Yelp describes.)
Questions to ask before you start:
- Is your Yelp Page up to date? It's what the AI learns from first.
- What should it never say? Decide whether it should mention prices, or just collect details.
- Where do urgent calls go? Set a transfer number you'll actually answer.
- How will callers know? Tell callers they're talking with an automated assistant.
Try it this week: 1. Update your hours, services, and FAQs on your Yelp Page. 2. Start the free trial and call your own number as a customer would. 3. Read every call summary for the first week, and adjust the questions it asks.
Good to know: if you plan outbound AI calls too, read our lesson on AI voices and phone calls first. Answering calls people make to you is a different situation.
